The first real ABC adventure. (ABC here and forever meaning Amanda+ Bridget+ Crystal=ABC) You already know the A in the equation, me. So next would be my maid of honor, Bridget. Bridget is my best friend. Next year we will have known eachother for 10 years. We met at church as the original desperate housewives. Bridget and I together have gone through three kids, two divorces, two engagements , and one wedding. Needless to say, we have bonded. We lost touch for a few years and didn't see eachother for 5. There for awhile our friendship existed in Christmas cards, you know with the cheezy pictures and "keep in touch". In the midst of a scary and confusing time, we made contact and it was just like we had seen eachother yesterday. Our reunion was at the Denver race. I flew out got to see Terry, my long lost best friend, oh and it was my birthday weekend, too. (I totally thought Terry was going to propose to me that weekend, but he waited one more month. I never told him that... oops I guess you know now hunny!! )No time was lost. And we wasted no time having fun! We hit the town and went on the Coors tour at the Coors brewery. Did anyone else know they give away free beer?I met Bridget's friend Jen!! Hey Jen!!
The race was fun, blue team won. It was so hard to say goodbye Friday night. We didn't know when we would see eachother again. Also Terry was going on the dreaded western swing (a time of the year when we go 4-6 weeks without seeing eachother). I know, can you hear the dramatic music playing?
Of course when I got engaged(one month later), I asked Bridget to be my maid of honor. Well actually, I told her and she accepted. We started planning the wedding, she flew out to Indiana to help me pick out the gown. Bridget came out to the Indianapolis race and now a month later the twosome of trouble was together again. We looked at wedding dresses. (Oh I just thought, I am not the bride anymore :( too bad it was so much fun.) The Indy race is the biggest one of the year so a lot of people come. It was like a merging of the two forces, Todd (Terry's best man)was there, Dave and Marsha, Boris. Melanie, and old friend of Bridge and I drove up too. The engagement was on, Everybody likes everbody!! Good things!! Everybody wang-chung tonight!!(I don't know why I put that in, it just felt right)This time when I said goodbye to Bridget, I knew I would see her soon, so I wasn't sad, just excited about what the future held, and feeling that life at 29 was just starting to go right for me. I had the man of my dreams, three beautiful children and and awesome best friend. I know mushy, bla bla bla. Sorry, it happens sometimes.
Being with Bridget is like hanging out with a better version of me. I mean, she has all the qualities I like about myself and all the other good qualities I wish I had. As best friends we even eachother out and bring out the best in eachother. There are only a few people in the world I can be totally myself with and surprizingly love me anyway. Some of the absolute side splitting, funnest times in my life are with Bridget.
Thanks Bridge, just in case you happen to read. I love ya!!!! Well this is the first entry of my new blog. This is kinda fun although who knows who even cares about someone else's day to day adventures. I think other people are interesting. Anyway, I am recently home from well, first getting married. Terry and the kids and I flew out to Oregon and got married. It was beautiful and the romantic and dreamy day every little girl dreams of. We were so overwhelmed by the support and hospitality by our friends and family. Thank You Dave and Marsha literally gave us free riegn of there home and turned it into Terry and Amanda's wedding wonderland. Think of an immaculately and impeccably decorated adult only only house being invaded by 57 wedding guests, bride and groom, maid of honor and three little ankle biters. We have been back to the house since then and it looks perfect again and as far as I know, Dave and Marsha have held onto good mental health.
The week started out Monday, the fourth of July Terry took the kids and I to silver creek falls and then to Lincoln City to the beautiful Oregon Coast. We flew kites on the beach. Lilly was the kite flying champion hers was up the highest and the longest, followed by Bubba's shark kite(with help from mom) Kendra and Terry, who wanted to get fancy kites... Well lets just say, didn't go as high. After kite flying we had dinner at where else, Mo's we ate the heck out of some yummy clam chowder. We all slept well that night.
Wednesday was a lovely dinner hosted by Dave and Marsha at the country club. It was a fun meet and greet between family and friends. The view was gorgeous and the food was incredible. It was Marsha's birthday and Dave suprized her with a to die for diamond ring Marsha had been dreaming of.
Thursday night was of course the big bachelor party know the time old tradition of boys only (well, most women got that memo) last night of freedom. My groom- to- be was the picture of moral innocence, and of course came home to me. Only, some talented entertainers used his back for an artful canvas. Oh well, guess who had fun cleaning him up? I went to dinner with my family whohad just come in that day. Uncle Kevin took us to McGrath's, then met up with the guys. I packed up the kids to go with Granny and Jammin and Auntie Lori for the weekend.
Friday was a day of decorating, setting up, last minute here and there. We had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at where else, Walery's Pizza. Todd got some last minute pointers from Bridget on the toast and I said goodbye to Terry until alter time. Of course, I forced my maid of honor to sleep with me. She was up to the task as long as I promised not to cuddle. I of course couldn't sleep... I was too excited. You would be too if you were getting to marry Terry Snyder.
Next day wedding. I can't say it went on without a hitch. There were a few hitches. A leaning tower of wedding cake, caterers with no champange and I forgot Grandma's hanky before the ceremony. Highlights:Terry showed up no cold feet!!! He surprised me with a big new diamond, the kiss was amazing ( I still get goose bumps)I had an unforgettable two step with Uncle Kevin. The toasts were so great and sweet. The wedding night( thank you to the wedding fairies that surprised us with rose petals and champange).
Sunday, we flew back to Indiana and Tuesday morning we took Terry to the airport. Bye hunny have fun on the western swing!!! And my life as a race widow begins!!!!! There is more to come: a trip to Seattle and a Girls only cross county road trip. Check out my next blog!!!!!
